Hand sewing BASICS
Welcome to a course where you learn the basics to get started with mending or sewing your own clothes. For hand sewing as for other needlework, your choices of materials and tools affect your entire project - both the process and the finished result. In this course we start with the basics: we go through the choice of fabric and thread with regard to material, durability, appearance and color. You will learn and practice the basic stitches used for almost all hand sewing.
You'll learn
- To thread a needle and prepare the thread for sewing
- Basic stitches for joining two pieces of fabric
- Material theory, as well as things to think about before choosing your fabric and thread
Included
The course includes fabric, as well as needle and thread to make your own sewing sample. You also get an instruction sheet for stitches and techniques. Coffee, tea and simple fika are included.

This is a course specifically for beginners who have not worked with fabric or sewing before.

Luisa is a textile artist with a penchant for reuse, traditional techniques and the extra geeky. She offers workshops in several different textile techniques, all with the goal that you create something with your own hands and that through creation you can let your head take a break.
